October has been a very busy month in the library and Mrs. Hanna and I are pleased to let you know that we’ve got loads of new books out on the shelves. Have you been looking for them?
Browse through the graphic novels section and you’ll find Lucy and Andy Neanderthal, Plants vs Zombies Battle Extravagonzo, Jon Le Bon #7, and a few more new series to meander through. Newly arrived in the mature section is the Dorothy Must Die series. Dorothy and Oz like you’ve never seen before! Refugee recounts the stories of three kids from different places and decades and how their lives ultimately intersect; impacting the people they know and love.
Grades 6-8 can check out the ever-creepy series, Tales from Lovecraft Middle School (yes, we have all 4 books in the series!), and the Last Kids on Earth series. How about Strong is the New Pretty, or the new Babysitter’s Club: Dawn and the Impossible Three.
We didn’t forget about you grades 4-6s either! We’ve snapped up Heartwood Hotel, Suee and the Shadow, A Long Walk to Water, The Curious Guide to Things That Aren’t, A Trio of Tolerable tales, and many more intriguing, interesting books that are sure to capture your imagination!
What’s that? Of course, we picked up a shelf load of fantastic books especially for you K- grade readers too! How about A Creepy Pair of Underwear, Me and You, and the Red Canoe, The Enormous Suitcase, and Carson Crosses Canada? Still wanting more? Maybe you should have a look at The Bad Seed, Out, or I Love My Purse. Soooo many books and soooo little time to read them all. Stop in and grab one today!
We’ve had lots of interest in our two Halloween contests. Do you think you know how much our pumpkins weigh or just how many bats are in our belfry…ummm, I mean in our jar?! Quick, drop what you’re doing and get your answers in today! You just might be a lucky winner who takes home a pumpkin or a jarful of bats!! No, silly goose, not baseball bats! I mean Halloween bats! The ooey, gooey, marshmallowy goodness kind of bats! Nom, nom, nom!
Stop in and enter often! Draw date is Friday, October 27th.
We all know that Halloween is an exciting time to be out and about, and who doesn’t love free candy, but please don’t forget to be extra careful when you are out trick or treating. Remember to look both ways before crossing streets, always stay with a group of your besties – never trick or treat alone, wear make-up instead of a mask so that you can see better, and always, always get an adult to check over your candy and goodies BEFORE you eat it. Have fun and stay safe!
Mrs. Hanna and I are looking forward to seeing your most devil-ish, ninja-ish, princess-ish, robot-ish, clown-ish or whatever-ish selves at the Halloween Parade! It’s going to be a wonderfully spook-tacular time!
Pop in to the library anytime, say hullo, and see what, or who is lurking about the library shelves this October!
