Mrs. Hanna and I hope that you all enjoyed this year’s Halloween Parade at school and had a spook-tacular Halloween! We saw lots of fantastic costumes again this year; everything from spooky witches and ghastly goblins to beautiful princesses and colourful clowns. Good work, everyone!
We’ve had another busy month in the library and have been doing our best to get those new books catalogued and out onto the shelves for you. Have you noticed any of the new graphic novels yet? Sunny Side Up, Last Kids on Earth, or Dawn and the Impossible Three? You might have to stop and look closely as there are so many great books in the section. Non-Fiction and the E section have both had some great new titles added to the shelves. Pop in and have a look – we’re always happy to show you what we’ve got on the shelf!
Our month-long Halloween contest was a huge success and so many of you guessed the correct number of bats in the jar…20! Was it Halloween magic that so many of you knew the right answer? We took everyone’s names and hubbled, bubbled, boiled, and troubled in our big, black cauldron; and mixed them all together. Mrs. Knutson bravely plunged her hand into the dark depths of the cauldron and slowly drew out…Danita S.’s name! Congratulations, Danita! Later, we took all of your pumpkin weight guesses (and we had a cauldron full of them!) and drew out Abbie. D & Addison S.’s names from the many correct entries that we had received. Great guesses at 11 lbs. & 15 lbs.! We had so much fun with you all and hope that you’ll check back in November to see what our next cool contest is. It’s really going to challenge your memory and we think that you’re going to love it!
Remembrance Day on the 11th is a good time to stop and take a few minutes to remember the brave men and women throughout time who sacrificed their lives and freedoms to ensure we that we all have the opportunity to live in this amazing country we call Canada. Stand tall and wear your poppy with pride.
November 13th – 19th is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week and this year’s theme is “Stand Up! (to bullying!)” One of the best ways to end bullying is through knowledge and education so let’s all work together to make our school, community, and world a safer, bully-free place.
November promises to bring all kinds of fun and activities to Ruth Betts and we hope that you’ll enjoy each and every minute of it. From sunrise gym and yoga club to the recess programs in the computer lab, gym, and library, our great school has something for everyone! When you grab a November school calendar don’t forget to pick up one for the Family Room too. They’re always cooking up amazing activities and events. You wouldn’t want to miss out on them, would you?!
